Proclamation 1017

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

Proclamation 1017 may not be Proclamation 1081. But it sure sounds similar. Sa mga hilig pag-masiao, mora kunog gi-slide ang numero.

In my book so far, however, 1017 is a minor version of the Marcosian masterpiece.

Proclamation 1017 has not resulted in a massive crackdown involving thousands. So far, the Arroyo regime has only arrested over a hundred.

Proclamation 1017 has not led to the closure of Congress. It only caused the arrest of two party list congressmen and threatened the arrest of other opposition solons.

BUt Proclamation 1017 and 1081 are similar because of the intention of sowing fear.

Mamasang

Sunday, February 19th, 2006

Life is so unfair. In the recent raids of bars in Metro Cebu, only the floor managers or the mamasang were arrested. Way tag-iyang naapil og kapriso.
Nevertheless, the owners of most of the raided bars like Celebrity went out of their way to get their mamasangs out of jail.
But not Harem. Nicole, the Harem mamasang, is still inside the Mandaue City jail because the bar owner won’t shell out for her bail.
Worse, her lawyer is pursuing a course of action that is keeping her in jail. Sunda tawn ang giubuhat sa abogado ni Sally sa Celebrity.
Worst, the minors whom the state prosecutors and the NBI will be using are still in DSWD. Giistrikto sila after the six minors "rescued" from Celebrity escaped.
May pag mag-state witness na lang na si Nicole.

Leyte tragedy

Sunday, February 19th, 2006

Many correctly described the latest Leyte tragedy as the environment’s vengeange for decades of logging. Unfortunately, nature chose to punish the poor people of St. Bernard and not those who got rich for cutting all of the trees.

Valentines

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006

I would have wanted to hop around various nightlife hangouts last Valentines Day had the missus not called to inform me that Bordi, that’s my second son, had not yet arrived home. After he texted that he was safely at home at around 12 midnight, that’s when I decided to drop by at the Ayala ENtertainment Center and finally settled at a cozy seat inside Ratsky to watch Stage Crew and 17 Crush perform.

What can one muse about inside a noisy bar with a San Mig light in hand?

A lot that I don’t want published here except for the fact that Ratsky Cebu during Valentines Day is not the same years ago.

At least, there’s no more entrance fee with a more manageable crowd.

Well a happy post-Valentine’s to all.
