Sinulog and Politics
In my Sun.Star Cebu column, I wrote about Mayor JV Ejercito’s possible presence at the Cebu City Sports Complex grandstand and Mayor Tomas Osmeña’s welcome.
On the surface, it shows Tom’s hospitality. But scratch the surface and we will see an Osmeña distancing himself from the administration.
What happened? Is it a show of displeasure for having been sidelined during the ASEAN Summit?
Tomas wanted to handle the gala dinner and the entertainment of journalists.
However, the gala went to Lupita Kashiwahara while the International Media Center (IMC), which was coordinating the activities of the media, was firmly in control of Malacañang boys.
So Tomas was left with holding a fellowship dinner for journalists which was attended by only a handful.
Sun.Star’s fellowship organized at the last moment was better attended despite the lack of time for distributing the invites.
