No more smuggling?

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Everybody in Customs are talking about an order upstairs (from Commissioner Boy MOrales) that smuggling should be stopped but only for three months.

But smuggling cannot be totally stopped. The players will only lie low and wait until the new anti-smuggling task force starts accepting bribes.

Moreover, more money will be concentrated to the people upstairs. Gutom na sad maayo. Mahugtanay og baso sa gagmay in Cebu apan busdik ang naa sa kaulohan.

Cebu Citizens Press Council Meet

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Representatives from the academe who did a survey on the coverage of the recent election campaign  received some flak when they initially reported their findings during the Cebu Citizens Press Council yesterday.

The primary objection was the exclusion of the lamp post issue as an election-related issue. As a result, the tally for news items on corruption was nil compared to stories on candidates platforms and promises.

I definitely agree. Everytime Cris Saavedra opens his mouth on the lamp post issue, he hit Jonkie Ouano.

Jonkie eventually lost the elections while most of his team mates won.

False alarm or leak?

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

The Customs bureau is awash with talk re the leak from Commissioner Boy Morales’ office. Somebody faxed a copy of the BOc chief’s resignaion letter to media. However, Morales immediately denied having issued any resignation letter that same day. Who faxed the letter? Was it fake? Or was it a response to President Gloria Macapagal’s call for courtesy resignations by Cabinet members but prematurely released by an overeager staff member?

Kwini of Earthweb

Monday, June 11th, 2007

We used to hangout Fridays at Oh grill in SM City. However, after they changed their folk singer, we changed venues. Over at the other end of SM City’s Fiesta Strip is Earthweb with their three-man band that sings more hip tunes. Friends who hang out with me however note the presence of the young singer Kwini. Just check her out along with the cold beer and the sisig.
